Prevent user from installing software
Control use of Windows Installer
- Type
gpedit.mscin the Windows Search Box. - Computer Configurations > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Installer
- Right click Turn off Windows Installer (in the righthand pane) > Edit
- Select Enabled in the top pane.
- Select an option in the bottom pane: For non-managed applications only, Always, or Never
- Click Ok to save.
This only controls software installed through the Windows Installer. Software can be still be installed through other methods.
