Overview

Images are made available to Adobe Portfolio through synched Adobe Lightroom Classic collections.

Syncing in Lightroom

Caveats

Only one Lightroom catalog can be used to sync. For the purposes of Adobe Portfolio, this is the catalog named "portfolio."

Only non-smart collections can be synced.

Workflow

In any of the catalogs containing work to be included in the online portfolio (e.g. "animation", "creative", etc.) select the images that will be included. Give them the keyword "portfolio".

See the "animation" catalog for examples. There are smart collections with the following criteria:

  • The collections are broken down by show, so Folder must match the name of the show in each of the collections.
  • Keyword contains "portfolio"
  • Keyword does not contain "needs work". This tag indicates files that need adjustments before being included in the portfolio.
  • Rating is one star or higher. (A quick way to exclude images.)
  • Cropped is true. This applies to background paintings where typically there is a frame built into the file with show and episode information.

Use the collection to make a selection of images that will be exported in a format suitable for the online portfolio. Export using the preset named "animation portfolio." This preset saves the images in [NAS_SHARE]:/creative/animation/portfolio/

Open the "portfolio" Lightroom catalog. This catalog contains the files saved in [NAS_SHARE]:/creative/animation/portfolio/ and other portfolio image repositories.

Sync the portfolio directory. This will update corresponding smart collections in this catalog. Go to the smart collection of interest, select the new images or all the images and drop them in the corresponding "non-smart" collection. This step is necessary because smart collections cannot be synced.

Lightroom will sync the new files, which then will be available to Adobe Portfolio.
