Exporting iTunes Playlists to Synology Audio Station

- Synology Audio Station v5.4-x
Exporting the playlist from iTunes[edit]
- Click on Playlists in the menu strip that is 2nd from the top.
- Playlists are displayed in the left column.
- Select the playlist to export.
- File > Library > Export Playlist...
- Path:
\\DiskStation\music\playlists - File name: (defaults to the playlist name)
- Save as type:
.m3u
- Path:
Edit the playlist for use on Synology[edit]
- Navigate to the
.m3ufile in Windows Explorer. - Edit the file with Notepad+++.
- Find & replace in the mp3 paths:
D:\music\>..\ - All organizing directory names should be all lowercase. E.g. "Pop" > "pop", "Disco" > "disco", etc.
Synology's file system is case-sensitive, while Windows is not. If the mp3 files were in the iTunes library long enough, they may have been added to the library at a point when the folders started with uppercase letters.
- Find & replace in the mp3 paths:
Accessing playlist in Audio Station[edit]
- Once the
.m3ufile is saved in the/music/playlistsdirectory, it should show up under Playlists in Audio Station. - If the track is displayed with an X beside it, there is something wrong with the path to the mp3 in the
.m3ufile.
