Procuredure for enabling SSH on Synology NAS to allow remote terminal connections.
Enable SSH via Synology DSM[edit]
- DSM > Control Panel > Terminal & SMNP > Terminal tab
- Enable SSH Service
checked - Port:
22(default)
- Enable SSH Service
Legacy documentation[edit]
The following instructions were saved after working with a previous version of the DSM. Currently there is no "Network Services" folder, and it's not necessary to modify firewall settings to allow remote hosts on the LAN connect via SSH.
- Grant remote access.
- Open the Firewall Menu, from the Network Services Folder
- Double click enabled rule
- In Ports Section, press Select button next to Select from a list of built-in applications
- Make sure Port 22 (SSH) is enabled
- Click OK twice and then Save.[1]
